Every since I was old enough to turn the radio dial I’ve been consumed with a passion for music. It didn’t matter if it was my parent’s Al Hirt records or watching the Wilburn Brothers on Saturday afternoons or sneaking into my older sister’s room to play her Leon Russell or Spirit LPs. If it had a beat, man I was diggin’ it! I was fortunate enough to grow up in a place where the radio station had to play a little bit of EVERY THING to sustain itself. Where else could you hear “Ball of Confusion” followed by “Black Dog” followed by “The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA”? Hey, like it or not, that’s what they played on “The Happiest Sound in Dixie”, WBAG. This is all we had until the onset of “Album-Oriented Rock”, circa 1975. Didn’t matter. I liked it all! I think that’s what’s missing in a lot of what we listen to and like today. Eclecticism. The guys and I have huge record collections and influences which reflect what we play on stage. Best of all, we enjoy it! We enjoy each other’s musicality and it inspires us to really get out there and do something that (hopefully) inspires our audience to have a good time, shake ass, and come back again. Thanks for coming out. As Buddyro once said, “Without your support we never would’ve made it out of the living room.” Amen to that.
Name: Memphis Age: I tell everybody I’m 55 so they’ll say “Damn you look pretty good for 55”. Does wonders for the ego. Drums: Ludwig, but any vintage American-made kit will do. Cymbals: One or two is nice. Pomade: Royal Crown but Murray’s will do in a pinch.
